I began my career nearly 40 years ago working in the administration offices of the local Bus Corporation. During my 16 years there I took on a few different roles which took me into a Finance Role in 1993. The industry took a few different re-structures brought by a full deregulation of the local bus service providers.
I was involved in two changes of ownership, one being an employee-led buy-out and around four years later the second buy-out was by Stagecoach, one of the biggest bus operators in the UK, who brought much needed investment into the rolling stock and taught me a more dynamic approach to the operations.
From there I went into different industries, Various B2B Services, Building Facility Management and Manufacturing.
I came to Ready 4 Home, with both enthusiasm and intrigue as this was my first experience within this sector. I quickly learned that the saying “No two days are the same” can sum up the early days entirely. It’s an enjoyable fast paced and diverse industry with the people who are supported at the heart of everything we do.
Working in supported housing has exposed me to aspects of society and levels of hardship that many people never see. It has also helped me realise my own purpose: to support people who are often misunderstood or unfairly judged. I firmly believe that everyone deserves a safe and dignified place to call home.
At Ready 4 Home, we commit to providing exactly that. We ensure that every person who comes to us has the opportunity to access high-quality accommodation—refurbished to a high standard and fully furnished—to help them begin rebuilding their lives.
